Pritchett Colorado Townsite - Ghost town

The first thing I noticed as I approached Pritchett was the tall elevators standing guard over the ghost town like lonely sentinels of a bygone time. Still a farming and ranching community but many of the buildings are now deserted and left to better times. I was here on a Sunday morning and the people were gathering at their local meeting place to catch up on the weeks activities. This town was named after a railroad official. It was the end of the line as the railroad planned to build all the way to a small community to the south and west called Joycoy. They stopped building as the lots in the town of Joycoy were not selling. No need to have a railroad go where no one lived. Thus a new town sprang up and Pritchett was its name.
