Galatea Colorado

  • Galatea – November 2021
    • A railroad town in the Colorado plains. It grew fast because the land was open for homesteading. A hotel to stay in for .50 cents a night. A general merchandise store, a hardware store and lumber yard. Law and order administered by a justice of the peace and a newspaper. Of course, the hotel also served as a local dance hall for the cowboys on Saturday nights. Then came the dust bowl and the residences slowly faded away. Now only a few lonely structures remain.
