Abbott Church Colorado

Abbott Church Colorado – June 2020

A prairie flower. Seems like a lonely place but it is still worth a visit. This is the Church that was built to support the once thriving community of Abbott. Yes, you can go inside but please respect the place and its contents. Nice setting with cactus flowers when I was there and a small cemetery to visit. The church was built in 1913 and sits on private property.

The town was named after Albert Abbott a large landowner in the area.  I never did find the location of the town of Abbot. At least not for sure but I do have several leads as the town seemed to be mobile in moving from location to location. There were no less than four different locations for the town and the post office. Some of the last photos are what I believe are the remains of the town of Abbott.
