Lily Mine Colorado

Lily Mine Colorado – June 2020

The Lily mine was discovered in 1879. It consisted of seven patented claims that were combined. It was purchased by the Taylor Mining Company for $40,000. The mine contained Gold, Silver, and Copper.  Because it contained the copper and gold it was able to survive the silver crash in the 1890’s.

An interesting place to visit. In 1909 the average mineral content per ton was about $25. The cost of sinking per foot is $25 to $35 and $16 per foot for drifting. I enjoyed exploring the mountainside at this location. Gorgeous views, plenty to see and discover in the trees.
