Pieplant Colorado – August 2019
At the turn of the century a 200 ton per day stamp mill was built for processing gold ore from nearby mines in Taylor Park. The little settlement near the mill was named after the rhubarb plants growing wild on the creek and was called Pieplant. You probably figured out the creeks name, Pieplant creek. It had a population near 100 mostly workers for the stamp mill. When the stamp mill was closed it was turned into a cow camp. The post office was open for only 2 years, 1904 to 1906. Everything closed down over disputes around the development of the ore bodies. By 1910 it was a ghost town. Several cabins standing, with a little reconstructive help, and numerous ruins.
