Placerville Colorado Townsite – Ghost town

In 1876 gold was discovered in the river bed among the river gravel. A year later the prospectors arrived. Once a mining town but when the placer gold ran out it became a transportation hub and supply point. In 1878 the post office opened and it is still open today. A nice General store stills stands and is open. It appears they make good use of old skis.
